This monument stands in front of the Escuelas Aguirre, the current Casa Árabe, to perpetuate the memory of the merchant and patron from Cuenca of liberal ideology Lucas Aguirre Juárez (1800-1873). It is a double-tiered granite base on which a prismatic white limestone pedestal stands, flanked by two wingwalls crowned by dentils, which bears the inscription “A D. Lucas Agvirre the City Council of Madrid”, next to the bust in marble of the honouree, bearded and looking straight ahead.
