Himalayan spruce

Picea smithiana (Plaza de Murillo)

A tree with hanging branchlets that give it a weeping appearance. The leaves are acicular, dark green, spiky and are arranged around the branch on a very marked protuberance, leaving the surface of the branch rugose on falling. Cones are glossy brown at maturity. This specimen has reached a height of twenty-two metres with a crown diameter of nine and a half metres and a trunk perimeter of one metre eighty-five centimetres. It is estimated to be two hundred years old.
