The Municipal Board of the Retiro District has authorized the installation of five new booksellers in Cuesta de Moyano. These professionals in the bookstore trade will occupy booths that have been without a bidder for a decade, which represents a revitalization of this traditional book market, known for the weight of second-hand and second-hand copies. These are the first position awards on the popular slope since 1986.

The five new booksellers, who have been awarded booths 7, 18 and 23, agree that they are former employees of other booths in Cuesta de Moyano, thus contributing extensive experience in working as booksellers to their new businesses. old and used in this location.

Ten-year award

The concession has a maximum duration of ten years and establishes that, at least, 50% of the books for sale in these three booths must be used or old. Likewise, the conditions of the concession establish that the establishments must remain open all year round, and cannot close annually for more than one month without authorization from the councilor of the Municipal Retirement Board, a position currently held by Andrea Levy.

The opening hours will be governed by the applicable regulations regarding commercial hours and, specifically, by the hours that, within this tourist area, are determined for the booths that make up this market. It is mandatory that the booths remain open a total of eight hours a day for six days a week.

In the criteria for awarding the concession, the economic offer was valued with a maximum of 80 points, while the length of experience related to the bookstore activity had a maximum of 20 points. A minimum fixed annual fee of 3,208 euros is established as a starting point for applicants, which must be updated on January 1 of each year.
