This cycle of nine conferences is dedicated to the figure of the architect Ricardo Velázquez Bosco on the occasion of the first centenary of his death, and will explore the different professional facets of the architect.

Under the scientific direction of Javier Mosteiro, the cycle will reflect on the architect’s training process and his professional development in multiple facets: the importance of the action of drawing in his work, his teaching work and the connection with the Institución Libre de Enseñanza, his contribution to the development of Restoration Madrid as a great European metropolis or his role as an architect who restored monuments, work that laid the foundations for modern heritage intervention in Spain. In relation to this facet, his performance in the mosque of Córdoba will be analyzed, as an example of the evolution of his thought.

Finally, specific aspects of his work will be analyzed such as production in the nearby city of Guadalajara, construction with iron or the role of the arts in his architecture, examples in a time of change, of the coexistence of traditional means of production. and industrial development.
