Casita del Pescador
The whims of Fernando VII
Surrounded by a metal fence and located in the centre of a small pond, the Casita del Pescador or the Little House of the Fisherman is one of the recreational rooms masterminded by the architect Isidro Velázquez for Fernando VII in El Reservado, a segregated area of the Buen Retiro Gardens for his exclusive royal use. Accessed via a walkway, its double-height interior, decorated with Renaissance motifs painted al fresco, rich fabrics and elegant furnishings, is crowned with a lead spire.
