Cedar of Lebanon
Cedrus libani (Museo Nacional del Prado, on the Paseo del Prado)
A sturdy tree, with level upper branches and a conical crown that becomes tabular with age. Its young branches are glabrous and the leaves are acicular and dark green in colour. Its cones are barrel-shaped with a concave apex, measuring between seven and twelve centimetres long. This specimen has reached a height of twenty-six metres with a crown diameter of twenty-two and a trunk perimeter of four and a half metres. It is estimated to be one hundred and twenty years old.
